Light and Sound Sleep Aids
Getting Started
Great to see that you’ve purchased a Tommee Tippee Rechargeable light and sound sleep aid. To help you get started and to keep it working effectively, we’ve added all the guidance you should need, plus some handy hints, tips and troubleshooting advice.
How do I charge my light and sound sleep aid?
Only adults should charge the light and sound sleep aid.
To charge up Ollie the Owl, Bennie the Bear or Pip the Panda, gently pull the battery box out of their back. It should stay attached, but not touching the plush material.
Insert the mini USB connector of the power lead into the charging port on the battery pack and the USB connector into any standard USB charger (120-240V).
DO NOT connect a USB lead to a standard plug socket.
The indicator light on the battery pack will glow red while it’s charging. When the indicator light glows blue, it is fully charged. The indicator light goes off when not connected to a power source.
Note: Your light and sound aid will not work while the battery is charging.
Make sure your light and sound sleep aid is fully charged before first use. It will take approx. 5 hours to fully charge the battery.
When it is fully charged, the battery should last approx. 25 hours on the highest energy use and 75 hours on lowest energy level.
How to use
How do I choose which sound I want my light and sound sleep aid to play?
To choose a sound press Ollie, Bennie or Pip’s right arm. Press once for heartbeat, twice for rainfall and three times for white noise static.
The sound you’ve chosen will play for 20 minutes before it automatically switches off, unless you have selected the CrySensor on the battery pack.
How do I choose the lullaby I want my light and sound sleep aid to play?
To choose a lullaby press the left arm. Press once for Brahms Lullaby, twice for Hush Little Baby and three times for Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
The lullaby music will play for 20 minutes before it automatically switches off, unless you have selected the CrySensor on the battery pack.
How do I turn the light on? And can I brighten or dim it?
To make Ollie, Bennie or Pip’s tummy hearts light up, press their left foot. You can make the light brighter or dimmer by pressing again. The pattern is low – mid – high – off.
The light will automatically turn off after 30 minutes.
How do I change the volume of the sound or lullaby on my light and sound sleep aid?
When Ollie, Bennie or Pip is playing a sound or lullaby press their right foot to select the volume. The pattern is low – off – high – mid – low – off.
When they are silent, press their right foot to play the last sound you selected and press again to change the volume. The pattern is high – mid –low – off.
What is the loop on my Grofriend’s head for?
You can use the fabric loop to attach your light and sound sleep aid to the outside of your baby’s cot, car seat or pushchair so that it’s out of reach.
Never leave a soft toy inside baby’s cot or sleeping area.
How does the CrySensor work?
The CrySensor allows your light and sound sleep aid to listen out for noise and respond by playing the sound or lullaby you choose to help settle your child back to sleep.
It listens out to noises in a room and is programmed to respond to crying or sharp sounds that may disturb your little one’s sleep. If there’s a rapid movement in the room, the noise may be enough to activate it.
To use, place your light and sound sleep aid near your child, but never in the cot or other sleeping space with them. You can use the fabric loop to attach it safely out of reach.
How do I turn the CrySensor on and off?
If your child is having a difficult night, the CrySensor may continuously play the soothing sound from one 20-minute play time to the next until your little one is settled.
What age can the light and sound sleep aid be used from?
You can use OIlie, Bennie or Pip from birth to soothe a newborn and continue to use their lights and sounds with your child as they grow.
The buttons in their arms and feet make it perfect for a toddler to work themselves.
How do I check that the CrySensor is working?
To check the CrySensor make sure you have the function switch in the correct position then clap next to it to hear your chosen sound or lullaby.
Where should I put the light and sound sleep aid?
You should place it near your baby so it can listen in CrySensor mode and so your baby can hear and see it.
Use the loop to attach it to your baby’s cot out of reach of your baby or stand it on nearby furniture. If you use the loop to attach to the cot, make sure it is hanging outside the cot so that if it falls, it will fall outside the cot.
Never place a toy or other object on the mattress inside a sleeping baby’s cot.
What sounds can my light and sound sleep aid hear?
The CrySensor works best when it is less than 1 metre from your child. When noise levels within 1 metre reach 50dBA, it will play your chosen sound.
How do I care for my light and sound sleep aid?
Because Ollie, Bennie and Pip have electrical components inside, they are surface wash only. Please do not put your Grofriend light and sound sleep aid in a washing machine or tumble dryer.
Just wipe them over with a damp cloth. Do not use any chemicals as they may affect fabrics or transfer to your child’s environment.
My light and sound sleep aid isn’t playing any sounds or lighting up. What can I do?
First check the switch on the battery pack to make sure you have your light and sound sleep aid turned on.
If it still doesn’t work, check it is fully charged by plugging into the charging cable (Note: Your light and sound aid will not work while the battery is charging). The indicator light on the battery pack will glow red for charging and blue for fully charged. If you’re still having problems, please contact us.
